「新ウチナー民間大使とは」
沖縄県では、それぞれの専門分野・活動分野における活動を通して、本県と在住国・地域等との交流の架け橋となる方を新ウチナー民間大使として認証してい
ます。

　平成2年8月、世界各地で活躍するウチナーンチュのネットワークづくりの先駆けとなることを目指し｢第１回世界のウチナーンチュ大会｣の開催を契機に、県ではウチナー民間大使制度を創設し、これまで496名を認証してきたが、平成16年度より、これまでの制度を改正し、新たに「新ウチナー民間大使制度」をスタートした。新ウチナー民間大使制度では、これまであった定員や任期を廃止し、発足時からこれまでのウチナー民間大使を改めて認証していくとともに、主に海外で活躍し、沖縄との交流の架け橋となりうる者については、新たに新ウチナー民間大使として随時認証していく方針としている。

On August, 1990, in commemoration of the 1^st Worldwide Uchinanchu Festival, the Uchinanchu Goodwill Ambassador System was established, with the goal of beginning the networking process for Uchinanchu around the world. From then, there have been over 496 people named Uchina Goodwill Ambassadors. From 2006, the system has been amended, and has begun anew as the “New Uchina Goodwill Ambassador System”. The New Uchina Goodwill Ambassador System will amend the enrollment limits and terms of office. It will also include past Uchina Goodwill Ambassadors, and will designate those Uchinanchu whose activities are mainly overseas and are acting as bridges for exchange between Okinawa and the world as New Uchina Goodwill Ambassadors.
